I regard Lewis as an early teacher of faith. For me, his writing served as essential due to his discipline in organized thinking. He is not afraid of his mind but approaches every question mercilessly and still lovingly. This is an admirable attribute gleaned from his work. There is no other writer and teacher that has baptized my mind into creativity and critical thought, though he would say otherwise. Of all his ideas presented, he makes clear that reason is no enemy of faith. They are paired to each other, needing one another. However, I must say, do not live in his work. The chief flaw to his approach is the lack of cited Scripture, and staying too long might leave you in wanting. Let his writing point you to deeper reading of the Scriptures, and in your reading of the Word, ask for wisdom from God, and reason with the Lord. That being said, I can’t not recommend this book.
